Weekend Fun

Last Friday was Cabool's homecoming football game. Griffin was thrilled that his Aunt Cole picked him up and took him to the parade. Even better, he got to ride in one of the fire trucks and wave to his daddy as they passed his office. He had a good afternoon out of the house.

Saturday, we were happy that Josh, Nicole, Landrie and some of Josh's friends/family came down so the men could enjoy a day of dove hunting. Sadly, I didn't get many pictures of the kids together. Nicole and I enjoyed a lazy, cool weather day in the house.

what a cutie

little Miss is walking up a storm now!

we were doing good to keep a shirt on him

To finish off the weekend, we had a dinner date with Chase and his new sister Bayley on Sunday evening. Ashley and I were due 2 days apart. Miss Bayley came 3 days after Cooper, on Drew's birthday. It was so sweet to see Griffin and his best buddy adoring their siblings.

2 Week Check Up

Cooper saw the doctor yesterday. Once again, we were congratulated on what a "good job" we are doing. The doctor referred to his weight gain as "extraordinary"......I'd say so, he's put on 1 lb and 5 oz in less than 2 weeks.

Here's his stats for record keeping purposes:

Weight: 7lbs 15oz - 25th percentile
Height: 20" - 22nd percentile
Head: 36 1/4 cm - 29th percentile

I might as well add a couple recent phone snaps from our lazy days we are enjoying around the house.

Cooper's Newborn Pictures

A couple weeks ago, I felt very brave and decided I would take on the huge task of newborn photos at home. I did some online research, spent too much on Etsy for props, and thought I was ready for the job.

Shasta was a huge help! I couldn't have done it without her. Drew is NOT a good helper when it comes to team work on projects like this. It took 2 days and a lot of patience but we finally pulled off all the planned poses.

I'm pleased with the result, but it was a lot of work.....not the kind I would be willing to do again unless I have another child!

meet Bucky...he's the Bobby equivalent for Cooper
many monthly photos on the way with this guy

Full House

We had some company this weekend. My sister Shasta and her son Owen flew in from Maryland to meet baby Cooper. I wasn't planning on seeing her until Christmas like usual! It was really nice because she not only helped around the house, but allowed me time to just relax and rest.

Here's a collection of pictures she sent me from her phone:

he does open his eyes some!

On Sunday, Shiloh came over and we all spent the day together.

they're obsessed with my kids' plump lips.....Drew's genetic contribution

My mom made dinner for us each night and we all enjoyed being together at home for the first time in almost a year. Nothing like 6 adults and 3 children packed in a small house!

Cooper meets Dr. Sponenberg

Cooper had a check up yesterday with his pediatrician, the first visit post-hospital. He goes to the same doc as big brother, Dr. Sponenberg. This man has been practicing since they used chisel and rock slabs to write, I'm sure of it. He seems to know what he's doing, so we really like him. He is quite old though, so at Griffin's last appointment when he started asking me when I was due, I tried to confirm with him (as nicely as I could) that he would be around long enough to take on baby #2 as a patient. He smiled and said, "I will be practicing for a long time". Fair enough.

The appointment solidified what we already knew. Cooper is perfect. Dr. Sponenberg told us we were doing a very good job. We will go back in a couple weeks.

Griffin is getting quite comfortable at certain places outside his normal daily life, coming out of his shell if you will! The doctor's office is one of those places. He talks to the nurses, other kids, anyone. At his 3 year check up, he asked Dr. Sponenberg repeatedly, "is my mouth okay?" Very funny when he's saying silly things to such a serious old man (Really, you should go back to the link in his name above and watch the video--second time I've ever seen him smile). Yesterday, when the doctor walked in the room, Griffin waited about 5 seconds before saying, "don't hurt my baby brother!"

Drew and I almost lost it.
