Sunday Lunch

Aunt Sherry (ours not Griffin's) came down for lunch on Sunday and snapped some pics with the Honeycutt family, including this excellent first picture of Griffin and his cousin Briley. They are going to be quite a pair growing up together!

6 Weeks Old

Griffin is already 6 weeks old and that means it's almost time to go back to work!

Several fun things are happening now:

  • He is starting to smile in response to something you say in addition to randomly or in his sleep.
  • Drew has witnessed him roll over several times during their nightly tummy time. I almost saw it last night but came in just a second too late.
  • I also decided I wanted to get him sleeping in his crib before I go back to work and to make that transition now rather than later when it might be a lot harder. So far we have slept 2 nights in the crib not swaddled and he is still sleeping in 3-4 hour stretches like before.
  • He can't sit on his own for more than a few seconds but he is getting very strong......holding his head and standing on his legs a good amount.

Amazing how fast he is growing and how big he is (notice he has no neck). We have officially moved into 0-3 Month clothing and size 1 diapers!

Cousin Love

We were so lucky to be visited by our cousin Peyton again this past week! Aunt Shasta and Uncle Justin came home for a week from Washington, DC before Justin starts a new job. So nice to see them twice this summer when usually it's at Christmas only!

Peyton still thought she needed to hold and kiss Griffin constantly. She will make an awesome big sister one day! Here they are at 5 days old...........

Again at 5 weeks old..........

And if we are lucky enough to see them at Christmas we will have 5 month old photos to add to this!

1 Month Old

Griffin turned a month old this past Wednesday. Our cousin Caitlin was so kind to come out and take Griffin's one month pictures! I saw the calendar idea online and throught it was pretty clever.

We plan on taking pictures with "Bobby" the bobcat every month and as he gets older so that we can see how he grows. Hope he can last a couple years!

Tummy Time

Most evenings before bed Drew decides it's "tummy time" and he and Griffin spend 10-15 minutes on the floor. Griffin does really well holding his head up for little spurts. He isn't a big fan of being on his stomach so most of the time he is unhappy while he's getting his workout. He got so mad once that he kicked himself over onto his back. We'll see if he makes a habit out of that!

Bath time!

When Griffin's cord came off I looked forward to giving him a bath in his little tub. Little did I know it would be the most traumatic thing we've done so far. He absolutely HATES getting a bath and therefore, I hate giving him one. He screams like we are doing physical harm to him. We rush through it like a champion Nascar pit crew. I can only hope it gets better!

Getting lots of rest.....

Griffin is a little over 3 weeks old now! Time goes by so fast, and so far I'm not dreading going back to work but I think my mind will change as it gets closer. We are enjoying our lazy days watching talk shows and soap operas.....and lots of napping.

Duke is a wonderful big brother and usually follows Griffin and I where ever we go around the house. When Griffin cries he is right at his face wanting to know what is wrong. I even find them napping together.

Sleeping at night is going well too. He eats every 2-3 hours during the day but at night he goes 4 hours before waking up. We usually have a late night feeding before Drew and I go to bed, one right in the middle of the night, and the next is early morning around the time I would be getting up to get ready for work.  It's not a bad schedule at all....hopefully sleeping all night isn't that far away!
