Hello Doctor......

Griffin saw Dr. Sponenberg this afternoon. His allergies have been bad lately (pollen count today was 4,349--everyone is miserable) but I knew his barking cough that woke me out of a dead sleep last night was something more. He has viral croup again....see this post. I wasn't sure if he was going to catch his breath in between all the coughing and wheezing around 2 am. Of course Drew has been gone, but thankfully, he got home from Chicago this evening. Crossing my fingers that Griffin sleeps well tonight, although the oral steroid he was prescribed could take 12 hours to begin working.

One positive thing about our first doctor's visit in 4 months (a record length for Mr. Griffin, by the way) is that he got officially measured:

Height: 35 1/2 inches
Weight: 27lbs 8 oz

That = +2 in both length and width since January.....wow!!

Also, great news on the ear front.....they both looked good, and the left tube is still in. Stay with us little tube!

Daycare Benefit 2013

Each year the daycare has a benefit dinner to help raise funds for improvements to the facility and new equipment. Last year, Griffin was just paraded through with the babies. This year we enjoyed a little action from him.

We knew Griffin had learned a song but he was usually too shy to do it in front of anyone when we asked him. I really wasn't sure if he would do anything in front of a room full of people. The video isn't very clear since we were at the back of the gym and I had to zoom in all the way. For those who didn't see him in the pictures, Griffin is on the front row-green with white stripes shirt.

After-bath videos....starring Griffin!

Just before bed tonight, Griffin wanted me to get the camera so that he could put on a show for everyone.....

....he'll be here all week people.

21 Months Old

This last month has been really fun. Drew has been so busy with turkey season that I am gaining major points. It’s also exhausting to be responsible for getting Griffin and myself ready in the morning and on time (still trying to get a handle on this) AND get him bathed, changed, and in bed each night while Drew is finishing up at turkey camp. Once again, I don’t know how single parents do it.

New tricks/things we’ve done in the last month:

  • Started taking children’s Claritin – this has really helped at his most miserable times, lots of rain lately has settled things down so we are all much happier
  • Visited Great-Grandma Delores at her new place in Springfield twice – really fun to have her an hour away
  • McDonald’s/Walmart trip with Briley joining us (see video)
  • PAT visit with Tiffany – she always gives us lots of tips and cool things to do to help Griffin’s development
  • Spent the night with Josh and Nicole in Springfield and was treated to breakfast out while Drew and I ran in the Color Run
  • 1st visit to the dentist – I’ve been to Dr. Terry since I was a wee child and she filled my mouth full of shiny silver caps (hopefully she won’t do the same to Griffin) but she did take 10 minutes before my appointment to look at his teeth and make sure they were all coming in, no decay, and that things were good…and they were. He still has 8 more to go: top/bottom canines and a set of molars on top/bottom
  • Language is developing quickly, it seems like he has all of the sudden started saying a ton of words and is attempting new words every day – favorite one lately is the ever popular “no”
  • Weighing in at about 25lbs according to the bathroom scale

Griffin is also perfecting his "knucks" move.....

More Easter pictures......

I picked up the prints/CD of all of our pictures from Griffin's Easter session. I'll try not to post them all but want to get some of these on here for looking back's sake.

Turkey Season

Drew finally had time to hunt by himself yesterday and was able to bag a bird! Griffin was pretty interested in it, Duke too.....I spent more time yelling at him to get out of the picture than anything. It won't be long and they will be going together.

Griffin was hysterically laughing....hence the normally absent smile from Drew

Busy Weekend

We had a lot going on this weekend. Friday night we stayed in Springfield with Josh and Nicole since Drew and I were attempting The Color Run Saturday morning. It worked out very nice because while we ran the 3 miles, they went for a nice breakfast and were able to pick us up when we were finished. I didn't hear how many people exactly were there but it was in the thousands. Parking was awful.

Although we discussed making this a run/walk, like Forrest Gump, we just kept running......until all of the sudden we were done. We had a lot of fun. It started at 9am. We didn't make it to the start line until 9:39 and finished at 10:07.

Once we showered we headed to Grandma Delores' new place. It's very exciting that she decided to move to Springfield and is now only an hour away. We had lunch at the jam packed Golden Corral (Grandma's choice), and made a quick stop at Lowe's so that Drew could hang 97 pictures. We are looking forward to seeing her quite often.

That evening we made it back in time for a BBQ at Trevor and Ashley's. Griffin got to roast a marshmallow or 12 for the first time. None were edible. The last baby due for our group of friends was born just a couple weeks ago so it was our first get together with everyone having a baby in tow.

Happy Easter!

We spent the morning of Good Friday at the dentist. Griffin had his first exam (with only minimal screaming, I could change his attitude by asking him to say "ahhhh" which he did) and we also learned some good techniques for brushing his teeth. After that, I got to sit in the chair for a hour and a half or so for 2 fillings. That afternoon Griffin met a little chick and a bunny for Easter pictures this year.

Just a sneak peek for now, should have them all in a couple weeks:

Afterward we took a few pics in the yard while doing chores, since that is where Griffin wants to be if the weather is nice.

The Easter craft this year was an idea stolen from the creative world of internet:

Yesterday, Griffin sat through most of church like a big boy and even "danced" to the choir singing. We enjoyed lunch at Drew's grandparents.

Flashback to last year's Easter photos which I either failed to post or just can't find where I did! He was 8ish months then.
