Our last couple of days were involved more shopping, outdoor activities, and sight seeing.
one of the Honeycutt's favorite places, the rock shop |
this chunk of petrified tree we are sitting on was SOOO comfortable! |
I talked Drew into riding bikes with me one day around the lake. The bike shop rented all kinds of things to go with your bike, including a trailer! Poor Cooper was tired and didn't like the weight of his brother slumping him to the middle or his helmet in his face, but it was nap time and he fell asleep quickly. Griffin had a ball.
This fun store had all kinds of pelts, skins, antlers, and more for sale!
Another trip to the top of the mountain was made.....
that's the truck window sill at the bottom of this photo |
see the road? |
On Thursday, I pointed out the Estes Park Tram to Griffin (who gets his adventurous side from myself) and he was very adamant about riding it! Drew thanked me sarcastically, but was still willing to take us later that day.
Right before we got on, we were both questioning the whole idea when Griffin turned around and in the cutest, most excited-yet-scared-like-should-we-really-be-doing-this-voice said, "this is going to be really fun!"
view from the top! |
this is where you get on to go back down...... |
Next to the tram was a little tourist trap with the typical bumper cars/boats, slides, go karts and etc. Griffin is really growing up. He is eager to do anything and is so brave. We started at the slide....
Even Cooper took a turn......
We had witnessed the trampoline from the road while driving by earlier in the week. Griffin said he wanted to do it, but we were still skeptical. He watched a teenage girl go before him, and when it came his turn, he marched up without hesitation. We were shocked! *Insert one last comment here about how brave our son is*
I couldn't let the boys have all the fun, so I took a turn as well and Griffin cheered me on the whole time. Lots of good memories from this little place.
Drew and the boys dropped me off for an hour of kayaking on our last afternoon. I appreciated the time alone and soaked in the beauty one last time.
Drew and the boys took this pic when they came to pick me up |
Friday morning came and the realization that I hadn't used the selfie stick that a friend had loaned me for the trip. So Griffin got a lot of good use out of it before we left to head home around noon.
We started home a different way and drove out through Loveland, Co.
We stayed the night in Salina, KS again and had a big surprised planned for Griffin when we got to Kansas City the next day. We made a stop downtown for Legoland Discovery Center.
I don't think I've been in a crazier environment. It was loud, busy, wild, FULL of children and their parents. Piles of random lego pieces.....everywhere. What did we expect on a Saturday afternoon.
Thank God for the "Quiet Room". Cooper and I watched Drew and Griffin build from the other side of the glass. Ahh, peace.
As luck would have it, Shiloh and Chris were coming to KC for the night and met us out in front of Legoland for a quick visit before we got on the road. What a nice treat!!
We arrived home Saturday night around 9pm and enjoyed sleeping in Sunday in our own beds.
Our pets were happy to see us, and us them!!
