I wondered if I would be able to run in the altitude. On Tuesday morning, I got a ride down to Lake Estes and enjoyed the 3.75 mile loop. I had to alternate running and walking, but I survived. The scenery definitely helped.
That day was quite busy for the golf course. At one time, I could count 15 golf carts within sight. The more rambunctious groups could be heard talking/yelling during their shots. And we even got a golf ball out of the deal that some nice man hit into the yard. This photo is from the kitchen window.
And the back deck....
Later in the day, Griffin joined Pop back at the lake for some fishing. They didn't get a single bite, but when we went to pick him up, he was still thrilled.
We hit the downtown area for some shopping to finish out the day.

Rocky Mountain National Park was on the agenda for today. I was so glad to be in our truck with Drew driving. Some of the roads are so narrow, without a barrier between you and oblivion. I wouldn't trust just anyone to be behind the wheel.
Griffin has been experiencing what we think is altitude sickness in the afternoons, so I was a little anxious to see how he handled the trip across Trail Ridge Road to Grand Lake for lunch. We've been pushing water hard core and it really helped today, even reaching a little over 12,000 ft in elevation! It turned cloudy and we got to experience a little sleet/snow mix at 44 degrees with a howling wind up on top.

don't mind the DVD wires, poor Coop doesn't get to be in family driving selfies |
but he got one of his own at lunch in Grand Lake |

the last time we were here, I saw moose in almost the same spot |

you can't possibly get a feel for how vast and impressive these mountains are from pictures alone |

More fun to come!
