Mark it off the list....

Griffin has decided to go ahead and get some of these "one time" illnesses out of the way now. We just finished Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (see more info here) and I'm afraid the visual reminders will be hanging around a while.....crossing our fingers that there are no scars. Griffin had "the worst case seen all week" and the doctor had seen A LOT of it.  I wasn't interested in posting pictures on the internet of my poor child, but I feel like this is one to document for later down the road!

It started with a fever of 102.2 and a few red bumps:

Day 3 - Blisters Forming

Day 3 - Bumps

Day 4 - Full blown
Day 4

Day 4

Day 4

Day 6 - Scabbing over

Day 6

Day 9 - Peeling stage

Day 9 - Going away finally!

Pictures don't do it justice. We are scheduled to have family pictures taken but have decided to postpone a couple weeks. I'm really hoping Griffin doesn't want to cross anything else off the list for a while.

ALSO-- I must note that we might need to thank this illness for breaking the thumb sucking habit early. He has not sucked his thumb in 2 weeks!

A lazy Saturday afternoon

Griffin has several new tricks now....

  • He can suck his thumb (a bad habit but a blessing all in one, he soothes himself back to sleep and opts to find his thumb instead of fuss on a regular basis)
  • He is getting better at tummy time and holds his upper half up well
  • He is reaching for hanging toys and holds/shakes his rattle in both hands, and
  • He can wiggle around quite a bit and I often find him sideways in his crib in the mornings.
I had video clips to post of all of these things but after trying ALL day, this is the only one small enough to get uploaded.
