Halloween 2017

As we approached Halloween, both boys had said that they wanted to be Batman. I tried to convince Cooper to be Robin, but he would not budge.

It all worked out fine, because Griffin had a change of heart and decided he would rather be a soldier. He even got custom dog tagsThis was the first year that they weren't a duo!

I guess Cooper wore his costume around the house too much beforehand, because when it came to the night of Halloween he was not interested in putting it on. I made him wear it for a couple terrible photos, but when we went to the church to play on the bounce houses he was back in his skeleton long sleeved shirt and jeans that he had worn to daycare.

We stopped by the church, fire station, YMCA, and Bill & Pat's before calling it a night. Griffin was interested in going door-to-door. Maybe next year we will begin that rite of passage!

Happy Halloween 2016

Halloween 2016 began with a party at daycare!!
Griffin wore his fireman outfit, but Coop laid low in regular clothes. I was anticipating some trouble with his costume for the evening, so we let him go casual during the day.

Thanks to the daycare FB page that I stole these pics from. They are so good to our kids. We are really fortunate.

It felt a little strange to have Halloween on a weeknight for some reason. I rushed home from work to get the boys and head straight to Drew's grandparents house for a quick happy meal dinner and to change for the evening fun.

Our costume theme began with an old bear outfit that a co-worker of mine had and offered for us to use. It was the perfect size for Griffin, and Cooper would have been a hunter to accompany him. However, even with all the convincing and attempted brainwashing.....I couldn't get Griffin to happily agree to be the bear. So then I began the search for an affordable bear outfit for Coopster, who isn't quite as hard to get along with right now. Ears were found on Etsy, and the rest of what they wore was pretty much already on hand. Very cost effective year!!!

The church had a fall festival with bounce houses and good food.

We also made a quick stop at the fire station.

We finished the night with a quick visit to Mimi, and then I put the hunter-turned-vampire to bed.

*Side note: Cooper is terrified of vampire teeth. It is sad and cute at the same time.

Happy Halloween!

When I asked Griffin what he wanted to be for Halloween, without missing a beat he responded "a police man". That was easy enough. Thanks to Amazon, I found him an awesome little outfit, and since Cooper doesn't have a say yet in what he wears, he got an adorable little "bad guy" costume.

It was raining a little on Halloween night, so the Main Street Trunk or Treat was moved into the gym at the high school. I'm not sure if it was the weather, or the free chili.....but there were a TON of people there. We stopped at a few stations and had a bucket full of candy so we boogied.

We couldn't leave before getting a picture with Chase and Bayley in our NOT PLANNED matching outfits. A few weeks back at soccer, Ashley and I discovered that we had bought the exact same costumes for our children. Great minds think alike.

I wonder what public service career Griffin will pick next year?

Happy Halloween!

I hope this was the first of many years of coordinated Halloween costumes. Griffin was given a firefighter outfit by generous big cousin Briley a while back. It was clear that was the perfect costume for him this year. I searched for a dalmatian costume online for Cooper but had no luck finding one small enough. Thanks to Amazon for the white zippered footed "pajamas", a certain Etsy seller for all the felt circles and ovals, and Grandma Kathi for sewing the ears and tail (also from Amazon) on. I spent a couple hours with the hot glue gun and voila!

We had intentions to make several stops this year since Griffin understands the whole trick-or-treating thing now. However, we went to Ma and Pa's house first and didn't end up leaving until it was time to go home. Since we don't have trick-or-treaters at our house in the country, he was really interested in helping answer the door. He seemed happy with the small amount of candy he collected from Ma and the daycare party today. Success!
