February Monthly Update

It's official.......Cooper is potty trained! This doesn't apply to overnights, and doesn't mean we are completely accident-free, but the MAJORITY of the time, he recognizes he needs to go and asks to use a bathroom. I especially love how he has to pat his own butt and say "poo poo" with a scared look on his face when it's time for #2.

He is also speaking more words all the time. I noticed that he has memorized counting to 10.... and a bunch of gibberish after that. He also calls Griffin something that sounds like "Bitten".

He's the chocolate to Griffin's vanilla. When he gets in trouble, he immediately wants to kiss you or simply says "Okay" in a defeated voice as he does what he's told, while Griffin would have given you the most hateful look he could muster. He does a great job at sharing and is all around pretty easy to get along with.

Griffin has moved from rhyming words to opposites now. He also loves to write simple words: stop, yes, no, Mom, Dad, and all of our names. This afternoon Drew said it was N-A-P time and Griffin chimed in, "it's nap time?"

He also saw the ENT doctor to check on his adenoids. For years he's snored, gagged easily, breathed through his mouth, had bad breath, etc. His pediatrician thought it would be a good idea to get the back of his mouth/throat check out. The verdict is that 1 is large and the other is borderline. The specialist gave us the option to go ahead and have his tonsils/adenoids removed or to start him on daily allergy medicine to see if we noticed a difference......we went with the latter for now and we'll see what happens.

And the duo....

More from February:

another work perk, running home at lunch

We had an overnight "date night" with friends that took us to Kansas City. We started out at Topgolf and had a lot of good food and drinks throughout the evening.

we are not serious golfers as you can tell

Griffin is getting really good with the BB gun.

A hard lesson in winning and losing was taught.......very sad but very funny to watch......

cute photo from daycare snack

With the weather getting warm, the bikes are coming out. Griffin is riding the bike that Mimi bought him for his last birthday. Cooper is riding the hand-me-down of Griffin's that also came from Mimi.

Cooper is finally not afraid of Ma & Pa's Billy Bass:

The preschool aide sent me this pic of Griffin and a creation of his.

Another daycare photo sent to me by one of Cooper's fav girls.

One evening, I heard some commotion and a lot of laughing. I walked into the bedroom to see this "slingshot" rigged up.

Griffin is a goofball

Cooper learned you don't eat an orange like an apple

New hearing test when we saw the ENT -- he passed!!
Life is good.

29 Month Update

Thank the Lord, we have been doctor-visit-free for a while and because of that....I still have no spot on measurements for Griffin. I'm not exactly sure how tall or heavy he is, but I'll gladly take that rather than seeing the pediatrician every time we turn around.

Things to highlight:

--Vocabulary is growing rapidly: he's always been very good with "me/I" which really surprised me from the start, also forming good sized sentences, and using lots of expression such as, “awesome momma!”
--Counts to 10: he loves to count things, however, he seems to skip 4 & 5 almost every time now
--Colors are a breeze: occasional confusion with black and brown, everything else is solid! when I ask him what his favorite color is, he always answers either green or “orginge”
--Shapes are fun too: he is working on all of the basic shapes but circles are definitely his favorite. he likes to find them in our surroundings and make sure I see it too, most recently it was the moon
--Current hobby of choice: nosepicking! he is good at it too….a lot of pictures I take of him lately are capturing this talent. what a goober.
--Fa la la la la: he has really started singing quite a bit in the last month…Wheels on the Bus, Jingle Bells, a Clean Up song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, 10 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, and several more. he isn’t crystal clear on his words, and one song in particular had us really racking our brains to figure out what it could be. I finally texted Jessica, the daycare supervisor to ask her what “me my mom mo, chuck off” could possibly be???? like the brilliant child genius she is, she replied with, “Eenie Meenie Miney Mo”! duh!

The pictures this month highlight another budding characteristic…..temper tantrums. He sure lets you know when he is not happy with what he is being forced to do. Check out that furrowed brow!

Exhibit A - That's nosepicking...

first piggy back ride for Bobby

can we be done?
