3 Day Weekend!

We have definitely enjoyed the long weekend! Griffin is doing too many new things to write out, so I'll just make a list and illustrate some with pictures:

  • he is getting much faster and more obsessed with his dump truck/ride on cars and pushing them around while "hauling" random items in the back
  • his love for stuffed animals is also growing and he now needs to hug one (Bobby or his sleep sheep) when he goes to bed and first thing after he wakes up
  • he started dancing to music
  • he loves wearing hats all of the sudden
  • he is learning to kiss.....for real (not just make the sound)
  • a funny but someday not so fun trick, he likes to hide......he's not very good at it and is easy to find but he is definitely practicing
  • he loves pushing any and every button he comes across--I put batteries in a bubble blowing toy and realized he had found it after I kept hearing a weird sound this afternoon
  • we have confirmed his obsession with the vacuum and documented it with many photos of him following Drew around
We are constantly amazed at the things he does and watching him "figure things out". I know he doesn't know english all that well (he doesn't say many words, and most know I'm worried about his speech) but it's crazy how he seems to understand what we say.

We made another trip to the doctor's office on Saturday after daycare called Friday afternoon saying Griffin had a fever. He lost his dinner all over me that night and continued to have a temp of 102.6, thankfully it was just a virus. He is much better now, although his lack of appetite, constant drool, and hands in the mouth makes us think he is working on new teeth.

Why?  I don't know

but let's leave it in my mouth for a while

howdy partner

ma'am

he only gets to do this when daddy is in charge

this was a hiding spot that I "found" him in

mesmerized by the vacuum

Duke is so tolerant

we can no longer use the bathroom in peace
how many things can we fit under the seat?

what a goob....no clue what that hand is doing

Busy busy boy!

It seems like we've had something to do every weekend lately, but I'm trying to enjoy the time together since hunting season is right around the corner and we won't see much of Dada then.

On Saturday we drove down to the lake for my company picnic. Griffin was all over the place.....trying to hang out with other kids at the playground, climbing in chairs and on top of coolers. Many of my wonderful co-workers took turns keeping an eye on him. I tried water skiing for the first time and Griffin took his first boat ride. He was intrigued by the power of the boat when it took off and settled in quickly (almost went to sleep). When it was my turn to jump out of the boat he perked right up and smiled/waved to me from the back seat. I even got several claps from him when I was finished and climbing back in!

Sunday we celebrated Drew's 29th birthday. Time sure does fly when you are having fun, seems like we were in high school yesterday. Speaking of fun, Griffin is learning how to "play with trucks". I don't think he was doing it in this video, but he tries to imitate the truck sound made when Drew or I push one around. It's pretty cute.

Also, the sleep sheep that has been around since Griffin was born is now playing a critical role. He had been going to bed effortlessly, then all of the sudden started putting up a little bit of a fight. We found that if we gave him the sheep, he would curl up with it under his arm and almost instantly go to sleep. As long as it remains a bedtime only stuffed animal facination I think I will be just fine with it!

New Picture Format

I enjoyed doing Griffin's monthly pictures but have decided to try something a lot easier for the next 12 months. This took about 5 minutes and was a lot less stress than the white back drop. This is the glider in his room and he really enjoyed sitting in it by himself like a big boy. I'm hoping we will be able to watch him "grow into the chair".

As for new tricks, Griffin has started waving semi-consistently and will occasionally even say "bye". Drew also heard him say momma twice when I pulled in from work one night this week but I've only heard it one time and it was several weeks ago. No consistency there. It's still all about Da Da Da Da Da Da (and on and on) at our house.
