A year ago.....Christmas catch up

I'm confused as to why I didn't make a blog post after Christmas 2011. Or maybe I just can't find the post with the pictures. I think someday I will want to look back (like last night when I was preparing to post this year's photos) and compare, so I guess it's better late than never!

Griffin was only 5 months old and very immobile on his first Christmas. That was back in the cuddly/bundle of love stage. I always wonder what he will grow up to look like, so it's neat to see him in the past and how he has changed since.

17 Months Old

We had a very long shopping spree in Springfield yesterday. Griffin and I were trying to finish up so that I can get ready for our first Christmas get together Friday night. We found time (although they were running an hour behind) to drop into Griffin's doctor's office to see about his lingering cough, snotty nose, and ear pulling. It turns out it's just a cold, and thankfully his ear tubes are still in place with no ear infection.  I can also report that he is weighing in at 24lbs 10 oz.

He also...

  • is working on his animal sounds, pretty good at the cow's "moo" thanks to the bawling calves being weaned at our house right now
  • can identify his (or your) eyes, nose, and mouth
  • will grab a kleenex from the box to wipe his own nose
  • uses paper towels to clean up messes (see video below)
  • loves to dance and spin in circles
  • is unfortunately beginning a very pitiful stage of fit throwing....his favorite move is to collapse to the floor and cry lying down for a while
  • is still quite clingy around strangers--we've left him screaming in the church nursery the past 2 sundays.....for the record, he gets over it fast and is always happy when we pick him up
  • is learning how to blow kisses and giving wet, open mouth versions when he is feeling extra sweet

I really want to pull this off

how old am I?

now get out of here cat!

And a truckload of photos/videos from the past month.....

Tis the season!

Christmas is right around the corner. Although we have trees up (Griffin has his own mini blue version in his bedroom) and some decoration here and there, I still feel like we are behind. Maybe because I'm usually done shopping by this point.

We visited one of the best places in America for holiday lights according to Yahoo, on Saturday with Aunt Shiloh, Uncle Chris, and the Cooper grandparents. It took us 53 minutes to drive just a few miles in backed up traffic and park but we had a good time once inside.

Waiting to ride the butterflies

2nd time on a bear this year, see this post

Best friends in the making.....

One of my best friends from high school, Trevor, came out yesterday to take our Christmas card photo. Griffin and his son Chase go to the same daycare, and get to hang out when we have get togethers. With 2 little girls born recently, and another on the way in our group of friends....these two are quickly becoming outnumbered. I look forward to watching them grow up together and many more pictures.

hey buddy!

just hanging out

I'm not going to last like this long....
